Why have whiter teeth?
Beautiful brilliant white teeth give you
an appealing smile and a healthy and refined appearance.
They reflect self-confidence and stand for success,
youth and vitality.
What can be done if teeth are dark, stained
or discoloured?
Until recently, brightening one's smile
meant costly crowns and veneers at the expense of destroying
healthy tooth substance. Thanks to progress in modern
dentistry teeth can now be bleached with gentle gels.
For best results we offer the Deep Bleaching Technique,
for those who can't wait Power or Laser Whitening or
for an economical approach the Home Bleaching System.
Why do teeth discolour?
Ageing, disease, medication, root fillings,
bleeding after accidents can all cause discoloration
of teeth. Coffee, tea, red wine, or tobacco consumption
can additionally stain the surfaces of teeth. Your
dentist will diagnose the reasons for stains on your
teeth before bleaching.
How can I whiten my teeth?
There a many over the counter whitening
toothpastes that will help keep the surface staining
down but will not really whiten your teeth. The 3 main
whitening treatments we recommend are
- Deep Bleaching - for the lightest,
most predictable and best results
- Home Bleaching - for good results
- Power/Laser/In Office Whitening - for
an instant result
Deep Bleaching
This is the GUARANTEED
way to get your teeth predictably whiter. While home
trays are cheap and power bleaching is quick the results
are not always as reliable or as dramatic as the Deep
Bleaching technique which will whiten even the darkest
of teeth and make for the most dazzling smile. First
an impression is taken to allow the technician to custom
make the deep bleaching trays . Then every night for
14 nights the trays are worn with a gentle whitening
gel. On day 15 attend the surgery for a 1 hour session
of deep bleaching to get the teeth really white. Results
are dramatic and can result in lightening
up to 14 shades. To keep that look, wear the trays 1
night every 2 months to keep the teeth looking ultra
white. For the Ultimate in tooth whitening choose the
Deep Bleaching Technique.
Home Bleaching
This is the CHEAPEST
but none the less an effective method of tooth whitening.
First we take an impression of your teeth in order to
make a thin plastic bleaching tray individualized to
your teeth. You then fill this tray with bleaching
gel and wear it according to the instructions of your
dentist, typically 30 to 45 minutes per day. The
gel is thick flowing and safely fixes the tray on your
teeth so that it does not move. After some days
you will observe a noticeable brightening effect. Best
results are achieved when the tray is worn regularly
over approximately 2 weeks when an average of up to
8 shades lightening can be observed. Temporary Sensitivity
is the main problem with this system.
Power Bleaching , Laser Whitening, In
Office Whitening.
These are commonly used terms for bleaching
the teeth in the dentist's surgery. They are QUICK
and CONVENIENT. Quickwhite
is one such power bleaching treatment that involves
the application of a concentrated gel to your teeth
and activation by a special light or laser. The
treatment is performed in the dentists surgery in about
1 hour, and was developed by a former NASA scientist.
Clinical tests have shown the treatment to be
both effective and safe. Improvements of up to
8 shades can be achieved. Studies have shown that
the treatment in no way damages the structure of your
teeth. A small percentage of people can experience
some sensitivity for a short time after treatment which
then resolves. If you cannot be bothered with
messing around with trays at home and want a quick fix
this is the one for you. However for best results you
may need to try 2 or 3 sessions depending upon the desired
result.
Is bleaching always successful?
The Deep Bleaching Technique is very successful
with around 95% of all cases reaching shade B1 or lighter.
Results with Home Belching and Power Bleaching can be
dramatic but not as predictable. If your teeth are not
suitable for bleaching then consider other whitening
treatments such as veneers or crowns. These will always
give an excellent result but they will need to be replaced
every 10 years or so and they can involve preparing
the teeth.
Will all my teeth whiten?
Fillings, crowns and veneers will not
change colour with bleaching . Look at the last tooth
on the top left of the above picture which is a crown.
Place your mouse over the picture to see the dramatic
results following the Deep Bleaching Technique by Enlighten.
If you need new crowns or fillings then get them whitened
first.
Will they look too white?
Because the tooth still has its natural
shape, character and translucency even very bleached
teeth still look natural compared to the opaque whiteness
of some smile makeovers using porcelain veneers or crowns.
I have never had a single client ever complain about
the finished result looking too white. Our Deep Bleaching
clients have consistently been the happiest with their
treatment.
