Advances in techniques now mean there
are many ways to improve your smile. These various treatments
are referred to as
cosmetic dentistry. These can include whitening
of your teeth, replacement of silver fillings with tooth
coloured restorations or crowns or veneers to alter
the appearance of your teeth. If there is any
aspect of your smile you are not happy with why not
arrange a cosmetic consultation and a smile makeover
with one of our dentists. We can discuss what
treatments are available and show digitally enhanced
simulations of what we could do for you. If after this
initial visit you were interested in any treatment we
would arrange a full examination, further special test
such as X-rays and study models and then produce a detailed
treatment plan. So if there is something about your
smile you have always dreamt of changing why not come
in but first take a few minutes to complete a smile
evaluation from one of the two laboratories that we
use for our smile make over's, ART and KnightDentalDesign,
two of the countries leading cosmetic dental laboratories.

for bleaching or wish to alter the shape as well as
the colour of your teeth, then we may recommend
veneering or crowning
.
Tooth Coloured Fillings
Silver amalgam fillings (mercury
based) can in many cases be replaced with white fillings
(mercury free). These tooth coloured restorations look
much better and produce a more natural appearance. The
technique for placing these white fillings is similar
to the usual fillings but for larger ones we may recommend
that the filling is made out of porcelain in the laboratory
for a stronger longer lasting restoration.
Crowns
or "caps" can be made from many
materials. Cosmetic crowns are usually made completely
from porcelain, or a combination of metal and porcelain.
The materials available now combine the ideal
qualities of strength without compromising the appearance.
For those who want the best aesthetic results we recommend
the use of Procera all porcelain crowns where possible.
Veneers
or "laminates" are thin
pieces of porcelain that are bonded to the surface of
the teeth. They allow the colour shape and position
of teeth to be altered and do not require as much tooth
to be drilled away as a crown. We can provide
veneers made using specialist systems such as Empress,
Procera, Lava, Authentic as well as very thin Thineers.
